I'm looking for some advice for making square sew on patches. Is it best to stitch one at a time or multiple at a time? I need to use metallic thread and I get a lot of thread breaks. Is there a trick to stitching with metallic?

Hi,
If your machine can sew more than one at a time I would say that is the best way.. my machines have an "array" function... .or you can set that up in your digitizing software. It also depends on the difficulty of the design... some may need to be sewn completely one at a time for registration reasons.

well you can change needles.. there are special needles I do not, I use the standard needles. I do spray silicone on the cone to aid... I also do not like the way thread comes off the cone for metallics.... straight up off the top.. tends to create more looping or fraying as the thread is twisted. I place my metallic cone off the machine on a small lazy suzan so the cone rotates and the thread comes straight off the side... not twisted off the top. There are special things you can buy that do this, but is easy to create yourself DIY type thing.
