Having a lot of thread breaks and some needle breaks on mesh caps and some heavier visors materials. does anyone have any ideas on hooping or run techniques. It is on our 15 Head Tajima machine. thread seams to have a lot of fray and then break.

Any info appreciated

What size needles are you using??? Try either 75/11 or if bump it up one size to 80/12. Also, titanium needles are very nice, much stronger, and tend to have less deflection.

Thread fraying could mean your hook gap is just ever so slightly off ... I know I will get a groan from a few people but try angling your needles to face your right ever so slightly, (and I mean VERY slightly) it can increase your hook gap without having to re-time the whole machine.

Is it random throughout the whole machine? Or does it seem to be one particular head / needle on the machine?

Lastly ... are you using good thread? Tajima's are very picky about thread and cheap thread runs like crap in them. I run mainly maderia, I use some Robison Anton.

we use 75/11, but will look into titanium needles.
we have used marathon thread for 20 years. would like to change, but would need 40 different colors and 15 spools per. $$$

Thank you for your help.

Needles break maybe from needles itself.
Thread break problem could be from original digitizing is not so good.
You need to look into that, too. You can try to run the machine
slower, that will help to solve the needle break and thread break problems.
