Come on Robert. You can match their prices.

Move into a tent with a stolen laptop and a pirated copy of Wilcom, and you can cut down all your overhead.

Then when the customer calls and asks for adjustments to the design because it doesn't sew out right, talk garbish 2 dem an el languish dey no compreeeheind, and take at least 24 hours to respond by email.

You can match their prices.

I WISH I had Wilcom!! But I placed a bet over 20 years ago with WINGS and feel too stuck to switch now.. (old dog new tricks thing)

Along the same vein... another client wanted to know why a new punch costs more than a revision. I am NOT making this stuff up! Why would anyone think that digitizing something from scratch should have the same price as merely changing a city name on something already digitized? They get to make money on the product, the sewing and even some mark up the digitizing AND they get to do most of that EVERY time their client reorders.. for YEARS on some of these. But they want to nickle and dime the original digitizer who has ONE shot usually of making any money off their input?

Hence the reason why I won't digitize for anyone but myself. I'll quote a movie line for this one out of the wonderful cinematic "achievement" of "under siege":

"I got tired of coming up with last minute solution to other people's ****ing problems"

As a digitizing company, we have done comparisons with other companies, ordering small designs to look at the quality, etc...I have to say the American companies (like us) have a better grasp of the entire embroidery process, which I think is necessary to make designs work for our clients.

before digitizing business is good way back 95'-2003, but since the pirated embroidery software comes here in philippines damn i almost quit from digitizing. usually the pirated owner make lesser price f**k them.

Hi Robert,
When Im asked this question I usually throw it back at the customer and ask them what they earn as an hourly wage and would they sit down and digitise for the $2 an hour that the people get in India. The answer is always a resounding No.
You do it in the States where costs are much higher and so your charges have to reflect that.
Plus the quality is usually good from India and usually better than from the States. . Ive used three firms from the States and two from India, the Indian ones win hands down on quality, speed, price and service.

The exception was Bundy(?) from the States, he was good.

Earl.

I hope you meant B.Burghy, Earl......and if so thank you for the compliment.....I am sorry i lost your business but as "AJST" posted we (as you know) can not really even come close to the pricing from the overseas digitizing houses.....
I truly believe that most of my clients take pride in knowing that they are getting an AMERICAN MADE service and communication is top notch.....(and i hope that the digitizing is up to par also.....lol) But this is something that we will always battle as American digitizers......

clients are individual.. it either clicks or it does not. Why else could you send a national corporate logo to 35 different clients and have it work just fine but then the 36th says it is the worst design they have ever seen! lol Obviously other elements are in play but the digitizer is the first to be dropped. (usually without the benefit of giving them a few designs to work with them to provide designs the way YOU want... they are not universal!) Relationships are fewer and far between now but hey the world is that way.

I still think ordering from offshore usually equates to buying a Sony Playstation that "fell off the truck" with pirated software so rampant.

I have used the same US digitizer for 10-11 years. He's good, fast, consistent, reasonably priced, and easy to communicate with and the designs run well. The few times I've tried another company I've been generally happy with the quality but sometimes the text is poor and there have been inconsistencies. I would think having inconsistencies would be a constant problem when using a large overseas company.
