I'm wondering if any of you digitizers out there can help me. I bring my designs in on my computer using Brother's PE-Design Ver 7. I have an existing design (it came on a disc that I got for free somewhere--maybe that's the issue LOL) that I need to enlarge slightly for a job that I am gonig to be running. I do use the control key feature which allows me to enlarge the design without losing the stitch density; however when I go to stitch out the enlarged design, I get several small blank (unstitched) spaces between a few of the rows on the design. The design seems fine when I stitch it out in it's original size. Can anybody give me some insight as to why this may be happening or what I am doing wrong? I don't know if there is a way to bring the design into the program so that I can correct or "fill in" where the stitch rows are missing.
I am not a digitizer. I can use PE-Design to resize, recolor, layout, etc., but I have never used it to digitize. I'm not sure if and how an existing design can be re-digitized or corrected.

I'm not familar with PE-Design but generally speaking, not all designs can be enlarged because of the stitch types that were used. For example, the width of a run stitch will always be the same but the look of the design will change if the other design elements are increased in size. How much larger are you trying to make the design? Some designs can be enlarged 10% - 20%. You might trying enlarging in smaller increments. I've seen designs that couldn't be enlarged by 20% but could be enlarged by 5% four times. If the outcome looks too sparse I would increase the sittch density (spi) or changing the fill type/direction if it is a fill area. Sometimes sationstitches become too long for that sittch type when the size is increased and need to converted to fill sitiches for good coverage that won't snag.

Thanks, Jennifer! I printed your response and will keep it with my notes for future use. After torturing myself for 2 days over this, I figured out what happened. The file was originally a DST and my software brings everything in as a PES. Something must have happened when the file was converted to PES. My Brother PR-620 reads both DST and PES, so I tried bringing the file in in it's original DST format and enlarged it right on the machine. Worked like a charm and stitched out beautifully.

This doesn't always work so try at your discretion...
When you import a DST file, it is imported as stitch data. Try selecting the design
and converting to blocks first, then resize. Sometimes it works better, other
times it doesn't, but it might be worth a try.
