sewing on leather fightwear

I have been asked to put names on a bunch of leather gloves and head protectors at a Muy Thai dojo. it would be on the strap that has Velcro on it. what needle should I use. I will be doing this on a fast frames with sticky backing.

You will need a wedge point needle to cut through the leather, also decrease your density and use very little underlay. Too much density will create a "Cookie Cutter" effect and your design/lettering will drop out of the leather. TEST - TEST - TEST!!!!
