it must be catching...my Neo who ALWAYS behaves is having a small issue and I want to make sure it isn't something bad. It has been stopping with a thread break error (although most of the time it doesn't have a break) it mostly happens during the same color but between letters or diffrent areas of the same color. The foot is half way down? To clear it, when it stops, we check the thread, manually push the foot back up-it doesn't have to be forced-and start again. is this a timing issue or something else or nothing big? I have included a pic to show ya. Thanks in advance for your help and expertise.

as a further note: When using the trace function, I often push down the foot to make sure I am not going to get into a hoop. It is a bit stiff doing this as well...they don't pop back up as the normally do. I have to push them back up as well.

Is this happening on all your needles or just one or two of them?
If the problem is with one or two needles you may have a bent presser foot. When you hold the needle down and trace the hoop may have hit the presser foot and bent it sideways causing it to bend. When I trace, I just put my finger on the needle to see the trace pattern. If the control panel is the same as a Toyota you can press trace twice at a time and it will move to each of the four corners and stop. When you do it this way you can bring the needle down and check the hoop placement.
As far as the false thread breaks... Check your thread path. Make sure the thread break sensor is rotating when the machine is sewing. You can also go into the control panel and change the sensitivity on the thread break sensor.
There is a number of things that could be causing your issues but I would check these first.

If it is just stiff, first I would try a little drop of oil on the needle bar. use your small hook oiler and let it work a few times.
