Hello,
Need some advice. I embroider military name tapes such as seen here:
http://www.militarynames.com/
I am using an old melco machine right now but its so old hard to find people to work on it.
I am looking for a newer machine that can do the simple embroidery that I do. Remember I only do military name tapes and am not interested in expanding past that into hats, etc. I only use 2 color threads, black and olive.
I am having a hard time justifying spending 15,000+ dollars for a tajima neo
or do you think I can get away with using a Brother pr-650 type of machine.
Nametapes are a side business that I offer as a service towards military personel whom I do uniform alterations for. On a busy day i'll sew up to 60+ name tapes. Average is about 20 a day. My current ancient melco machine takes 5 min to embroider 1 name tape.
Is the Brother pr650 capable of handle this type of embroidery or am I better off with a commercial tajima machine? Thanks in advance
Re: Tajima neo or Brother pr 650 for name tapes
I don't know about the Neo 2 but the original Neo was available with 6 needles. You might want to investigate gettting a used machine with fewer than 15 needles.

Re: Tajima neo or Brother pr 650 for name tapes
what is the advantage of fewer needles? isn't good to have 12 or 15 needles? so you have some more colours and more design variety...?
is it really no problem to get a used neo? i mean is the quality good enough?
Re: Tajima neo or Brother pr 650 for name tapes
hello, i am new to embroidery, but I also look at these smaller machines... I heard that the ZSK Sprint is very promising... have u looked at it, any ideas about that machine?
Re: Tajima neo or Brother pr 650 for name tapes
I have a 650 and its OK for small jobs. But it more like a "home based" machine. I would go with a commercial one that can handle the load. I am now looking for a commercial machine because the 650 is too slow.
