Having problems with thread looping in fill stitches on embroidery machine. Some heads loop and others don't. Any ideas. I have checked bobbins and tensions
Re: Thread looping
assuming the upper and lower tensions are correct, check the thread take-up spring.push it down with your finger and you can feel the tension of the spring. compare it to other needles. if it feels loose, tighten the stud that the spring is mounted on by inserting a regular screwdriver into the center of the tension knob and turn it to the right . you can actually do this while the machine is stitching and see the effect. refer to parts book section CD-13A(ind. tension base) #11 is the stud and #12 is the spring
Re: Thread looping
I would check carefully for lint. Sometimes bobbins can get lint or a sticky residue that can effect tensions some of the time.

Re: Thread looping
What type of garment are you embroidering on. If it is a jacket like a Dickie with the fill inside the liner then you need to adjust the top tension. This tightens up the thread and allows for a tighter knot with the bobbin. You should verify the bobbin tension on all of the heads to ensure that they are uniform.
Re: Thread looping
First I would check the threading path, make sure you are going through all the eyelets and its threaded correctly. Then, I would pull the bobbin case and run a business card under the flat spring to remove any lint/debris. Replace the bobbin and try it. After that - check the position of the check spring limiter (this is the stopper that controls the take up distance that the check spring has) - just make sure its similar to a needle that is not causing you problems. If its not that, follow Gkrieg's advice. You can use a 8 gram weight to hang on the check spring and tighten until the spring just touches the limiter.

Re: Thread looping
After all are checked, run the machine faster.
Sometimes the loops show up when speed is too slow.
