I work for a large embroidery company, and i am the only digitizer...so, needless to say that i am super busy. My problem is that i dont have time to hand punch all my text and i am forced to use computer generated text. It is very unpredictable. It sews well on some fabrics and really bad on others. And i am trying to convince the embroidery supervisor that not all issues are the digitizers fault. I know that a lot of it has to do with stablizing the fabric. Any feedback?

What software are you using to digitize the text? Wilcom, Pulse, and a number of other digitizing software do a fairly good job of auto-digitizing computer fonts, however you may have to go back in and tweek it a little.
Do you have examples of the bad sew-outs?

Im sure it has a lot to do with our backing, needles, machine matenance, etc.

I would prefer to use Keyboard Embroidery Fonts over Converted TT Fonts.
In almost all cases they will sew better than the TT FONT conversions.
I am sure you already know that the proper underlay and density which are easy to change makes a huge difference even when using keyboard embroidery fonts. This will often clean up the text quite well even if you are stuck using keyboard fonts.
You will also find that certain fonts sew well at different sizes. Some fonts do not scale up well, while others do not scale down well so its a matter of picking the best font for application based on the fabric and size of the text.
Hands down Digitized Designs and Lettering will always be best and that does NOT include Auto Digitizing which I put at the opposite end of the spectrum from best ! Personally I am not a fan of any auto digitizing or TT Font Conversion based software. Not if your trying to make designs that are truely very efficient in production.

I have been using wilcom for many years, the computer generated text has really never been perfect, but has within the past couple of years gotten worse. I prefer to hand punch, but just dont have that convenience.
