Re: whats the best thread for the price.
I've had good luck with the thread I get from Metro Embroidery - it's inexpensive and I've never had a problem using it in my Brother Innovis 4000D...

Thanks.
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
FuFu has been rebranded as Floriani and is now sold by many dealers.
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
I dont think this is true. Floriani cannot do that and I dont think fufus would allow that. Why would they want to sell their thread with a different name? doesnt make sense.

Re: whats the best thread for the price.
They do. I have had contact directly with FuFu's to attempt to find a distributor in the US. I was told repeatedly the same thing....
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
We have had the best performance from threads that are 3ply and come on tapered cones, those cones that have parallel sides sometimes have a problem with the thread hanging up at the bottom of the cone/spool. With the tapered cones the thread flows smoother. As far as visuals we believe that the three ply threads present a slightly better appearance. Additionally the three ply threads consistently sew small lettering and detail better than a two ply thread in that it has fewer thread breaks or fraying.
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
nice to know that.
so the cones say floriani instead of fufus?
what are the prices?

Re: whats the best thread for the price.
Yes, I believe from the primary distributor the prices are $6.99. The other site posted above is cheaper but it doesn't say that is Floriani thread....
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
I brought thread in from China to reduce the cost of our production since most designs are around 50K stitches. I'm selling it for $3.95 for 1-11 or $3.75 for 12 or more mix and match. They are poly 5000m cones 120d2. I've got metallic as well and bobbins too. We've loaded some on our website dkmonogramming.com .
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
fufus thread
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
Some commercial machines like some brands and not others. I have SWF machines and run Isacord, FuFu-Floriani, Madeira, Sulky, Gunold. They don't like RA poly or rayon.
Best advice is to request samples from different brands. They usually send black and white. If your machine runs well with these, usually can use their brand.
The reason for black and white is the black is usually reduced or the white is bleached when they have excess colors.

Re: whats the best thread for the price.
To the OP you should tell us how many heads you run and potential production. That is going to determine the thread you should by. It is not just about cheap thread if you are in high production you also need a relationship and a well organized thread distributor. Trust me if you went extremely cheap you will have consistency issues and stock issues across the board if you deal with a major supplier consistency is something you can count on.
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
RA poly
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
Iris UltraBrite Polyester Thread. $6.35 for a 5500 yd cone. Great quality, made with American made triblobal polyester.

Re: whats the best thread for the price.
We've tried the iris...more thread breaks than we cared for unfortunately :(
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
Ultimately, the price of thread is very low per logo, even using a more expensive brand, so the only issues to address are reliability and colour. If you can't get a run done without a thread break then any saving will disappear very quickly. Also, if you can't match the colour the customer wants or it fades with washing then, equally, profits will disappear.
The best and only way to go is to contact suppliers and run samples. When you find one that works for you and they have a good range then stick with that.
Personally, I like Marathon.
Remember, though, that the needs of polyester are different to those of rayon, so don't just swap threads and expect it to work well. Check your settings first!
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
Should have said black is redyed
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
I have 6 swf and I am using 80% MARATHON POLY ($ 4.25)
The other 20% are ISACORD , MADEIRA , RAPOS
SWF and MARATHON made in korea so works perfect for us.
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
I'd have to say overall it would be FuFus. I've tried others but none of them give me the results I want.:)

Re: whats the best thread for the price.
Fufu is now called Floriani thread.
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
I stick with Madeira Poly as my #1 Choice.
It may not be the cheapest but we have found it to be the best for production and quality and inventory is almost never an issue.
I have had contract customers supply thread (non madeira) and every time we have to run it then we end up having more problems than the savings would be worth to change over.
Isacord would be my second choice and its the Strongest thread I have seen so far but not quite as smooth as Madeira when running thru the thread path.
RA would most likely be my third choice and in recent years they have gotten much better than they were in the past.
If the cost would allow I would run Madeira Frosted thread in production much more than we do. Its FANTASTIC for small text and details but we only keep that around the shop in limited colors.
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
I mean 5500yard (5000m) for $ 4.25
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
I have an old brother 416 and it's a picky eater. Isacord runs nice but it's dull sheen isn't what i want. i'm switching over to coats sylko because it runs just as good and has a nice jewel look. i get it from sewingmachine.com for under $7.
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
Madiera works for us.
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
There are many shopping stores where you can buy quality thread at reasonable prices. However, I purchase it only from OregonPatchWorks, as they provide quality as well as quantity with huge discounts to their customers.
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
You can go for premium polyester thread. It is very inexpensive and you will get it easily. I usually buy all embroidery related stuff from OregonPatchWorks. They have a great collection of embroidery threads also.
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
I am wondering if anyone has used king star polyester thread as they seem to be popular down here in the San diego area.
Re: whats the best thread for the price.
I have and it sewed great. It has a real nice sheen. Go for it.
