I recently bought an expert 830 with the hat attachment.
The design I am working on uses 5 colors so I have 5 needles setup. I am using Madera thread, Origon 80/14 Teflon coated needles and Magic Headwear hats. The machine will sew the first two colors with no issues, it did have to adjust the thread tightness and change thread a few times because of shredding, on the third color the pattern starts to sew just fine, but about half way around the hat it starts to skip stitches. I am sewing a satin stitch in a circular pattern as a border around a design. I have tried new needles, new thread, adjusted the tension on the bobbin, on the thread, cleaned, and oiled the unit with no luck.
I have even tried to change to one of the other needles and it does the same thing. If I try to sew with the first or second needle with the first colors, it works fine. I am thinking it maybe something to do with timing, but I don't know how to check.
Does anyone know what might be going on? Thanks in advance.
Re: 830 embroidery issues
If two needles are okay then its not a general timing problem. Sounds like a tensioning issue. Did you check your thread paths?

Re: 830 embroidery issues
Thanks for the answer
Yes I adjusted the renewed the issue is only at the bottom of the design the side closest to the machine and the top. Other wise it works well
I am wondering is the fixture is the issue. How far from the bobbin plate should the hat be? It is currently about one half inch
I am thinking the distance might be the issue and why it is acting up
Oh I tried the design flat and it worked great
