Happy New Year to all,
Could someone tell me how I can embroider a design on a shirt pocket without sewing the pocket shut.

Re: embroidering shirt pockets
The embroidery machine arm needs to be able to fit inside the pocket with extra room to accomodate movement when the design embroiders. Most designs need to be embroidered above the pocket.

Thank you for this information
Re: embroidering shirt pockets
If you really want embroidery on a place that is difficult to get to you always have the option of partially dismantling it. With pockets, there are often reinforcement stitches at the top or near the opening that can be difficult to remove without messing up the fabric. So what you would want to do is remove the stitches starting at the bottom leaving those reinforcement stitches in place. Then you can fold the pocket out and use your favorite method of securing it to the stabilizer. After embroidery then naturally you'd just sew the pocket back on to the shirt.
