Renaissance - Prodigy Debaucle

I am spitting mad. We found out yesterday that our, nearly paid for, Renaissance will be obsolete in a matter of 90 days. The great folks at Prodigy informed us that they will not be providing any parts for the Renaissance machines past 90 days. But ... they would sell us a NEW machine. That's is just freaking great. Plus the kicker is ... we had to find this out on our own ... no notice ... nothing. We called to get some new folks in Renaissances training classes ... nada.

If anyone finds a source where parts can be obtained ... it would be helpful to know.

In the mean time ... I purpose that we flood the internet with this great bit of news.

I'm sorry that you didn't receive your notice. This is only because your information is outdated in the email database or if you are not the original owner; however, it been announced on all the boards - on the website, in the Ren user groups, via every phone call, and published in the major trade magazines. If you didn't know, its not from some facts we are trying to keep to ourselves - we are trying to get the word out so we can help as many customers get into a program at a reasonable dollar amount where we can support long term.

Nice post but you missed a couple key points:

1. We are providing parts as long as stock lasts. We don't know for sure how long that will be but we are estimating 90 days or so. Some parts are not proprietary on the machine and those parts will be available indefinitely. This is what you were told.

2. We are offering to trade in your machine anywhere from $4000-$8000 depending on what you originally purchased and what you are trading in to. This is every bit of 300-700% over retail market value and on par with Tajima's advertised resale values (50% of new price). I'd say a pretty good offer considering they are selling for $800-$1500 on the open market. Furthermore, we're taking the trade in units and using them to have parts so that we can support for a longer time.

3. The Renaissance machines used a proprietary controller software which means that all the boards in the machine are unique and not offered except from the factory who produced them. Not that we won't provide them but that we are not the manufacturers so we cannot guarantee availability.

We are out here - stepping up to the plate offering FREE support, a very aggressive trade up, and even giving 100% trade value on Magellan software to get you into something that is supported. We aren't forcing anyone to do anything, we are simply just trying to help customers get into a technology that we can support better. Most are appreciative as the alternative is that they went out of business and you would be on your own.

Nice to know that you are aware of the facts and are presenting them accurately. If its such a detriment to you to have this option of trade in, don't do it but why are you demonizing us? We're the only ones who are offering any help to you whatsoever.

FYI - we are also going to offer a life extender kit with the proprietary parts that will likely keep the machine running for a little longer in case you cannot afford the trade up.

Good luck to you.

Nick, are you buying any machines for parts? I happen to know where 3 are available to be purchased. All 3 run.
