Used Machines

I am not wanting a fight here, but I continue to see these messages from an auction site. Today when I opened their current blast it said: "We are the safest place to buy and sell garment equipment on the Internet!"

I have contacted them about used equipment in the last couple of weeks. They couldn't tell me anything in detail about the machines they were representing. They offered no warranties of any kind. They expected people to bid on machines they cannot see, even the state (freight is a sizable expense) the machines are located in isn't posted.

They want you to contact the seller for the condition of the machinery. From my years of selling machinery all sellers think they are selling "Filet Mignon", when I inspect the machines (in person) prior to posting, usually they are usually more like "hamburger".

The idea of an auction doesn't work well for expensive used printing machines and the hopes of getting the "deal of century" is very unlikely. You should always go see machine in action prior to considering the purchase printing machines have many ways to be accurate to factory specifications. If you don't to travel, then a warranty in writing is a bare minimum condition of the sale. The (auctioneer) seller should be knowledgable of the machines they are representing on a first hand basis.

It was told to me they use an outside agent (what's his name) to do their condition reports for them. When the machine arrives and it is less than promised who is at fault: the agent, the auction site or the owner of the machine??? Your recourse is sketchy at best.

Not everybody is a crook, however the more parties that are involved in the transaction creates an avenue for less than accurate information and problems for the buyer. Look before you buy from anybody, if you can't travel send someone who is knowledgable that you trust to go inspect the machine.

I want to know the name and expertise of everybody reporting a machine's condition.

That's just my opinion.
