Hi
I'm considering purchasing one of those two programs. But I don't have in depth knowledge on both of them and I'd like to be careful how I invest my money in. I'm sure both software will provide excellent jobs for most folks but I'm tech savvy and I am very critical over small differences in functionality, performance, and productivity.
It seems like a lot of folks prefer Wilcom's user friendly interface and productivity. On the other hand, Pulse Tajima is apprarently endorsed by Tajima company and Microsoft Vista certified.
Although I don't own commercial embroidery machines, I'll eventually purchase Tajima in a year.
Would Tajima machines work best with Tajima /Pulse software or Wilcom? I'm inclined toward Tajima/Pulse just because of my preference in Tajima machines. But if the Wilcom is considered to be an industry standard I'd put a priority over Tajima.
Re: Wilcom Vs. Pulse Tajima
Both programs will work well with Tajima machines. How they run on the machine is up to the digitizing know how. You say you are tech savvy and that's great, but digitizing is an art in itself. It will take you awhile to learn how to do it with a minimum of color changes trims etc. Find out if either give on site training. You can go to both web sites and check what their programs offer. I would also try to go to a trade show and see them both demonstrated.
Re: Wilcom Vs. Pulse Tajima
Proibibly a bit late now, but if I were starting again I would without a doubt go for Wilcom especially for a beginner or those in the early stages of learning. Feature wise they both have pro's and con's but it is the output file that determins what machine it can be used on not the other way round.
I do not know of a program that will not output a DST file that most of the industrial machines use. both Wilcom and Tajima/Pulse output a whole host of formats to accommadate almost any, including sewing/embroidery machines.
Re: Wilcom Vs. Pulse Tajima
I would second that! Wilcom by far! Easy to use and the stitch quality is by far superior! IMHO
I have used various digitizing software over the years and Wilcom was the easiest to learn. You also should consider what company will provide you with the best customer support and training to adequately fit your needs. Wilcom is on the high end of the spectrum when it comes to pricing but, for me it is well worth the cost!

Re: Wilcom Vs. Pulse Tajima
I actually use BOTH. Not by choice however. I use wilcom for my everyday stuff. However, I use Pulse for applique. Reason being, is, I have a Laser Bridge, and my version on wilcom does not support laser cutters. So everything applique I do that gets cut by laser has to get done in Pulse, cause the laser is a Hirsch product.
I do hear however that the new version of Wilcom offers Laser cutter support.
Given the choice I would rather Wilcom hands down over pulse. I don't really think its an ease of use factor, they are both easy. I just think that Wilcom has better built in tricks and shortcuts than pulse. Perhaps just cause I am more comfortable with it.
Bottom Line: Either one should do you just fine, however, my preference is Wilcom.
